Service Description

With a fresh new year upon us, we are thinking about all things harvest season. We cannot have a harvest season without the vital help of our pollinating friends, the bees! The realm of bees is complex and we have the help of both domesticated bees as well as countless species of native pollinators that produce food for the world. In fact here in North Idaho, we are blessed with a massive and very healthy population of native pollinators. We are offering this workshop to all ages - those who are interested and eager to learn about pollinators as well as keeping bees for your own farm or mini farm (yes people do keep bees within cities and neighborhoods!). My number one goal is to teach our visitors to NOT be afraid of bees. Yellow jackets and wasps are NOT bees! Know the difference. Learn how to establish a pollinators garden. Learn how to increase the yields of fresh fruits and produce on your own farm with the help of these tiny, yet mighty miracle workers. We will be showing you tools, equipment and parts of an EMPTY hive. Those with allergies to bees are kindly urged to not attend for your own safety. We'll send you away with the knowledge you'll need to begin this amazing adventure. Your own clean, fresh honey is just one of the many rewards you'll earn for becoming a pollinator pro. **The fee is per person who attends ( parents and children included). Ages 3 and under are free. **If you are part of a co-op, homeschooling group, private school, etc. please plan for carpooling as we have limited space for parking. We are a real working farm - not a tourist destination with parking lots :)
