Maple Sugaring At Athol Orchards

Learn the history & art of Maple Sugaring at Athol Orchards!

  • 15 US dollars
  • East Bunco Road

Service Description

Come out to the orchard and learn about the traditional history and process of "Maple Sugaring", which is the formal term for making REAL Maple Syrup! This is an age-old tradition that dates back several generations of Americans. Originally established by native Americans, this tradition takes place mostly in Canada, New England and a few North-Central states. It is virtually unheard of in the Inland Northwest ( until now!). Athol Orchards has perfected the process here in North Idaho and we are excited to share this tradition with you. You will learn about the different varieties of Maple Trees, the history of maple sugaring, the science behind it, how to harvest maple sap ( live demonstration), and the process of turning that sap into valuable and heavenly pure Maple Syrup! We will also talk about the various products made with Maple sap. We round out the workshop sharing one of our favorite North-East activities. It's a fun and sweet ending to our time together that is sure to leave you searching for your own maple trees to tap!
